Positive Planet Certified Gold Award

Career Connect CEO Sheila Clark said:

“Our ongoing work with Positive Planet helps us move closer to becoming a carbon neutral organisation every day.  Achieving the Gold Accreditation is testament to the hard work and dedication of staff across our charity, who embed sustainability into everything they do.

“We are enjoying learning, applying our newfound sustainability knowledge and seeing the results of our efforts. Within our staff, our ‘Green Team’ of environmental champions identifies areas where we can improve our efforts.  They offer advice on how we can be more energy efficient, help the environment, live healthier lives and they work tirelessly to keep green issues at the forefront of our work.  We are also grateful to the rest of our staff who suggest ideas to our Green Team to consider.”

Career Connect has worked with Positive Planet since September 2022, when we undertook actions to make a difference to our environmental sustainability.  We have collaborated with Positive Planet to create our Carbon Reduction Plan, which focuses on achieving the following targets:

  • Reducing scope 1 and 2 emissions by 60% by 2030.
  • Procuring 80% renewable electricity by 2025 and 100% by 2030 at all paid offices.
  • Reducing scope 3 emissions by 50% by 2030.
  • Measuring all scope 3 categories by 2026.
  • Reducing our total market-based emissions (scope 1, 2 and 3) by at least 90% by 2040.
  • Neutralising any residual emissions using verified carbon offsets.

We have training modules on environmental sustainability available to our staff and a session on the topic has been incorporated into our induction process. All of our new suppliers are asked to complete a survey detailing their environmental sustainability, and our people complete regular working from home surveys. We also have a Green Team, which meets three times per year, sharing ideas and driving sustainability across our charity and communities.

As of 2025, we remain on track to achieve our near-term carbon reduction targets and net zero by 2040, with an 18.8% reduction in total carbon footprint emission (tonnes CO2e) in 2023/24* compared to the previous year.

Our charity is proud to have been awarded a gold accreditation from Positive Planet, which stands alongside our bronze accreditation from the Carbon Literacy Organisation for our work towards environmental sustainability.
