Andrew is a member of our Education Business Services team, which provides careers services to more than 200 schools and colleges across the country, creating careers education, information, advice and guidance (CEIAG) packages tailored to their needs.
“Deeply privileged”
Speaking of his shortlisting, Andrew said: “I am deeply privileged to be nominated for a Careersfest2024 award! Being nominated as a Careers Star invokes in me a great sense of pride for a profession that so deeply cares about those it seeks to help.
“I believe my nomination was for my work representing the sector as Chair of the UNISON Careers Committee; with UNISON being the only trade union to have a dedicated committee for careers professionals.
“Over many years my work has included advocating on issues such as pay, terms and conditions to politicians and decision-makers. I have always viewed collaborative working with stakeholders such as the CDI, Careers England, and with Academics such as Prof Tristram Hooley, as playing a key part of this, to ensure the voice of our profession is heard.
Everyone has a role to play
“I believe everyone in the sector has a role to play in working together for the good of all. It has been my privileged work for a supportive, excellent, employer for 25 years and I aim to keep on making a difference!”
The CareersFest2024 Award winners will be announced at Careers Festival, which takes place on Friday 18th October 2024, with the theme of ‘longevity’. Tickets may be booked by via the link below.
