Primary Careers Programmes

Helping to develop careers confidence early on.

Our programmes can help you to promote aspiration and careers knowledge from Key Stage 1 onwards, engaging not just your pupils, but parents/carers, and teaching staff.

Introducing high quality careers in primary education prepares and enables pupils to understand their personal development, raises aspirations, helps them to interpret, and understand stereotypes and improve their transition to secondary education.

We can offer teachers and Primary School Leaders a broad range of training opportunities to develop a modern careers and work related learning strategy that incorporates the latest legislative and policy frameworks.

You may also wish to undertake the Primary School Quality Award, a national accreditation that helps schools embed an inspiring programme of career-related learning and support from Early Years through to Key Stages 1 and 2.

We can adapt any of our services to suit a primary setting, but the following may be of particular interest to primary schools:

Aspirations Programme

Key stage 2

This programme is intended to increase students’ awareness, aspiration, ambitions and confidence in pursuing educational goals, particularly FE and HE.  It is adaptable for Primary, Secondary and specialist provision, full year groups or targeted groups of students.

Students enjoy a number of sessions, and one university interaction. This provides real-life experience to help embed learning.

Our Careers Advisers lead delivery, using their expertise to tailor sessions to meet schools’ needs and requirements. Sessions are thematic and designed around the needs of age groups/academic abilities. The focus is on interaction and engagement; generating discussion; exploration and reflection. Each session incorporates pre and post session evaluation measurements.

Be Your Best Self

Key stage 2
Our aim is to develop learners’ wellbeing, confidence, and resilience so that all young people believe that they can be successful.

This programme helps to prepare, engage, and raise aspirations of learners to help them feel confident, motivated, and involved. Based on the 4 C’s  – control, commitment, confidence and challenge, students take part in a range of interactive and inspiring sessions that motivate and challenge students to develop their skills, goals and develop strategies to cope with anxiety and stress.

The Be Your Best Self Programme has seen improvements in the well-being of participants, an increase in student confidence, and in knowledge of strategies to help cope with the challenges of everyday life.

Challenging Stereotypes Workshop

Our workshops allow for students to showcase their innovation and presentation skills.  They are available for a full year group or targeted groups of students.

This half-day event features employers working in non-traditional roles and industries.

The event is focused on broadening pupils understanding of the world of work and local opportunity structure.

Alongside providing multiple employer encounters, this activity challenges students’ perceptions about work, sectors, age, and gender.

The challenging stereotype events are a unique and engaging way of introducing students to the world of work.

We also provide meaningful pre and post event reflection and evaluation.

Primary Schools Step Up

This inspiring programme is designed for year 5 and 6 pupils, aimed at increasing attainment, improving behaviour, and supporting pupils to explore the world of work.

The Step Up programme enables students to feel more motivated, confident, and able to see the value of work that is relevant to them.

It provides information for learners, and their parents or carers, to be able to explore the world of work.

Reach for the Future Programme

This inspiring programme introduces young people to the skills needed to be successful in work. It includes employer-led sessions to help students apply their learning to the world of work.

The engaging and interactive sessions are delivered by a qualified coach who will work with a group of students to improve their motivation, skills and behaviours, whilst also learning about how these very important skills relate to the workplace.

The programme has proven to provide students with increased attendance,  confidence and learning engagement.

Work Related Learning and Enterprise Events

Our workshops allow for students to showcase their innovation and presentation skills.  They are available for a full year group or targeted groups of students.

Employers attend and set a task based on local labour market opportunities, skills, and school/college or cohort priorities.

Our events enable students to understand the skills needed in business and provide the opportunity to work creatively in teams for a common aim.

We also provide meaningful pre and post event reflection and evaluation.
