Career Connect’s Achieve team delivers a resilience support programme for young people on probation (aged 18-25), who face multiple barriers or challenges in engaging with probation and wider services.
The service is funded by HMPPS.
Our Resilience Coaches work with young people referred by Liverpool City Region Probation Delivery Units.
Building resilience
The Resilience Coaches arrange an introductory meeting with the young person and their Probation Practitioner, complete an assessment and develop an individually tailored action plan focusing on the young person’s needs and aspirations.
The young person will work with their coach for six months of intensive support, followed by three months of gradually decreased support through one-to-one mentoring/coaching sessions.
The 4 C’s approach
Sessions focus on building resilience by using the 4Cs framework, strengthening capability in control, commitment, challenge and confidence to empower young people with the necessary skills to strengthen their resilience and address challenges or setbacks.
The coaches take an individually tailored and holistic approach, which includes referral and introductions to wider support services such as mental health, substance misuse, finance and education, training and employment.
Programme aims
Engagement with the programme aims to help young people to develop stronger positive relationships, better decision making and enable positive outcomes, such as movement towards education, employment or training and improved wellbeing. This will cultivate a more positive mindset to engage with services more effectively.
