Career Conversations™ — A Flexible, Multi‑Use Resource That Sparks Real Career Discussions

Career Conversations™ is a free‑flowing, adaptable discussion deck that helps young people explore who they are, what matters to them and where they want to go. With 54 open, reflective questions across eight categories, it encourages authentic conversation, self‑development and future thinking in any setting.

It works naturally in tutor time, PSHE lessons, pastoral and SEND support, mentoring sessions or one‑to‑one guidance. The cards help young people express themselves confidently and connect their experiences to their future choices without feeling like they’re being assessed or interviewed.

Why it matters

Many young people struggle to talk about themselves in ways that link to their goals, strengths or future decisions. Career Conversations™ gives them the space, structure and language to think more deeply and share what really matters to them.

It is more than a chat — it is a flexible tool that supports meaningful reflection at a pace that suits each learner.

Why schools use it

Career Conversations™ strengthens self‑development and reflective practice across careers programmes, PSHE and pastoral support. It supports staff to have high‑quality, consistent conversations and aligns directly with Gatsby Benchmark 3.

It requires no preparation, works in any classroom or support setting, and helps staff quickly understand students’ strengths, motivations, barriers and next steps.
