Safeguarding children is a collective responsibility. This session describes the background to safeguarding children, and the frameworks in place to protect children at risk.

Who is this session for?

This session is suitable for anyone who works with and around children.

What are the session aims?

The session aims to explain what safeguarding is, to give attendees an understanding of risks to young people, relevant legislation, and examples of good practice.

How will this session be delivered?

This three-hour session will be delivered via MS Teams.

What will I learn?

This session describes the background to safeguarding children, and the frameworks currently in place to protect those at risk.

Please note: Local authority area processes will not be covered, as they vary considerably by area.

By the end of the session, learners should be:

• aware of relevant safeguarding legislation and policy
• clear on reporting channels
• aware of safeguarding responsibilities
• able to respond appropriately to safeguarding concerns
• aware of a range of safeguarding themes and able to identify vulnerability factors.

This session will be delivered by Lynn Rimmer, a Training and Development team expert who has many years of experience in training and safeguarding.
