At Career Connect we were saddened to learn of the death of His Royal Highness the Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh last week. As founder of The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award scheme in 1956 (with German educationist Kurt Hahn), Prince Philip has made an amazing contribution to the lives of more than 10 million young people worldwide. The scheme runs in over 140 countries and empowers young people from all communities to build the skills, confidence, and resilience they need to make the most out of life.
This is very much aligned to our own aim of providing opportunities for people to ‘create a better future’. With young people around the world facing incredibly tough challenges in their lives and careers due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we must all play our part in helping them prepare for life and we are incredibly grateful for Prince Philip’s pioneering spirit in creating a development programme that continues to inspire young people and create opportunities for them to this day.
