Career Connect

Working with a Tesco Metro Store which was due for closure in Wavertree, Career Connect Advisers delivering National Careers Service (NCS) provided help and support to employees under threat of redundancy.

Expert help was drafted in, to work with Tesco employees on site in the store, to give them one to one advice and guidance on planning their next steps, when the store closed.  The NCS Adviser did some research, digging into what was coming up in the local area and identified a new “Range” store planning to open in 3 months, which tied in perfectly with the closure of the Tesco store.

Career Connect was able to support individuals to identify their skills and experience, and present that clearly on a great CV, so that they were best placed to move straight across into new jobs in the local area.

NCS Adviser Lesley commented, “Delivering an individualised NCS service on site, whilst people are carrying out their daily work duties, can be quite challenging!  For us to ensure the staff facing redundancy receive the best possible service, this requires engagement and support from the management team.  It was great to work alongside Tesco on their change programme and help their staff make a smooth transition into alternative employment.”
