Career Connect

Career Connect CEO Barry Fletcher will leave the charity at the end of December to take up a new role as CEO at the Youth Futures Foundation.

Since joining Career Connect, Barry has led the development of a new Vision and Mission alongside an ambitious five-year growth strategy, which is now being delivered across all areas of the Charity’s work.

The new strategy focuses on growing our reach and impact and we are already seeing significant progress with the securing of new contracts such as Connect To Your Future, a £5M intensive mentoring programme for young people in Greater Manchester facing significant challenges due to the pandemic.

Career Connect supported more than 67,000 people in 2021/22 and is growing its work in schools and communities both in the North-West and beyond.

The Charity has had a significant focus on enhancing its approach to Diversity and Inclusion and was delighted to feature in the Top 50 Most Inclusive Workplaces for 2022, compiled by the National Centre for Diversity.

Barry said: “It has been a privilege to lead Career Connect. The Charity makes a massive difference to the thousands of young people and adults it supports. This is only possible through a wonderfully talented and committed team. I look forward to seeing Career Connect go from strength to strength in the future and continue to support people to realise their potential.”

Lorraine Dodd, Chair of the Career Connect Board, said: “Barry has been an inspirational leader providing energy, drive and enthusiasm all of which can be seen and experienced within Career Connect today. I believe Barry has been key in helping the Charity build a clearer identity, internally and externally, and a strong belief in itself, its work and the values and culture we aspire to.

“We will all miss Barry and wish him well with every success in his exciting new role at the Youth Futures Foundation. On a personal note, as Chair, it has been a pleasure to work with Barry despite the many challenges over the past few years”.

Barry will take up his new role at the Youth Futures Foundation (YFF), in January and Career Connect wishes him all the best for the future.
