Career Connect

FREE for 16–18-year-olds in Salford not in employment or education. Sessions include bike repair, hair and make-up, construction, boxing and wellbeing, graffiti art – with gift vouchers available on some programmes.

Young people from Salford aged 16-18 can choose from a range of FREE activity and experience building programmes this summer.

From insights into the construction trade, and sessions on beauty, tattoo and graffiti art (new for 2023), bike repair and boxing, organisations across Salford are hosting a full programme with something to suit everyone.

The programme has been put together by Career Connect’s Salford Connexions, who are commissioned by Salford City Council to work across the city supporting young people into career or training opportunities. Last year more than 120 young people took part.

If you are between 16–18-year-old, live in Salford and are not in employment or education, you can enjoy the programmes for free.

Some run for a few days, while others run on set days for up to five weeks, helping participants to look at their options, try different career areas and develop some of the key skills they need to enter the world of work.

There is no cost to young people or parents, lunches or refreshments will be provided, and help may be available to cover any travel costs.

Rachel Raza, Team Manager at Salford Connexions said: “This is the third year we have run a summer programme on behalf of Salford City Council.

“Each year we have fantastic feedback from young people who have taken part, with many of them finding new interests or just improving their wellbeing. It’s a great way to spend your summer, try something new in a relaxed and fun atmosphere, and you may even learn some new skills.”
